Got tires, CAMBER CAN'T BE ADJUSTED???
Sent out a previous post and forgot to mention something. I got those
Dunlop SP5000's. My total at NTB was $653 (which includes like $50 road
hazard, $40 lifetime balancing or something.. and nice 7% Philly tax).
But anyhow... when they did the alignment. They said my front camber was
off. something like -1.1 between both wheels and that it was the right front
in particular that was out of whack. When the guy went to adjust the camber
he said there wasn't one. He showed me a picture of a Jetta underneath on
his computer and there are two bolts for the camber adjustment. Here there
was only one (2000 GLS VR6 with the 16" rims). He said it couldn't be
adjusted and that it was this way because it was either built out of whack
or I hit something. It's pretty much been doing this about 10k miles into
the life of the car. He said more than likely the whole assembly would need
to be replaced.... or to make sure I rotate my 4 tires so that each tire
gets a chance to be in that location.
The crappy thing is that the tire wears more on the outside edge than it
should because the top is leaning out too far. I've always had a vibration
there too starting at about 75MPH... going away about about 85. Of course
none of the dealers would test drive it above 65. And now my bumper to bumper
warranty is up.
Anyone know anything about a camber adjustment on the 2k Jetta or have any
other suggestions?
Thanks,
Seann
