Re: Give them a chance

Good commentary.

Can anyone, among all the expert NBA fans reading this, tell me of any team
that cut loose such a high 1st round pick, after he made the team, without
including all the examples of drafts picks being traded (ie. Penny for
Webber). What I am getting at is there any examples of a team thinking so
highly of a player (like Billups - did I spell it right?) to draft him this
high, then apparently give up or loose confidence in this "franchise"
player in about a weeks time (real games, not preseason)?

I have to believe this unprecedented, if all the rumor-mongering is true.
And if so what does this say about RP and the team management. We may need
and want a superior PG for the RP system, and the future, but of think of
the horror of watching this talent potentially burn us for years to come
somewhere else.

One last comment on the matter. Who wouldn't be happier right now with
David Welsley or another vetern at PG, and have drafted Tony Battie. If
the dump Billups plan is the one to follow, and I don't agree that it is,
wouldn't Battie, along Knight and Walker be exciting to think of?

Of course what we get for Billups might be the real answer, though I doubt
it.

Let me know
