When I had my '98 GLX, I always went with what was recommended by VW -- Premium
Unleaded fuel. It actually said this inside the gas flap. I personally
wouldn't go with anything less, but that is just me. If you plan to "chip" your
VR6, keep in mind that Premium Fuel is REQUIRED!!!
Since VW recommends the premium stuff, I would use it and stick with it.
