Shaving the Flywheel?

    Has anyone ever shaved the flywheel down on a VR6?  LIke take 4-5 pounds 
off it? I heard a lot of disadvantages to getting a lightened flywheel like 
the EIP or the Velocity.  So instead of doing that, I was considering having 
a machine shop shave some weight off of it, to balance the pros and cons.
    For reference, I do some drag racing, mostly 25-65 mph street type runs.  
If that holds any bearing....
