tranny shifting at too high RPM's ECU?

hi
i just got a new auto tranny put in my jetta because i screwed up the other 
one. long story.  but anyways now it shifts at about 5000-6000rpm when 
accelerating at a normal rate.  I took it back to the tranny shop and they 
think it has to do with the computer and not the tranny.  Is there any way 
that i can reset the computer myself to try to solve the problem.  thanks in 
advance for the help
