The guage will change depending on several factors, the primary one
being whether you on an incline or a decline. This is important if
you're just about to get the Gas light on, meaning right at the
threshold.
I've gotten the light on a decline, but then gone up an incline, and
the light goes out. A couple days later (light driving) the light
comes on and stays on. I've taken my car to the third red line on the
guage with no problems.
