Re: Reasons Not to Commute in DC Traffic
Well- I went to the dealer last night. All is well.
Alexandria VW FINALLY did something right for a
change. The service rep did me a favor and threw the
car up on the lift to take a look at things. A
mechanice came over and also took a look. Only damage
was a couple of scratches that I can get out this
weekend when I wax the car anyway. I also mentioned
the problem I have been having getting the car into
first. Both the mechanic and the serivce rep who
actually knew his stuff said what I was saying... the
cables need to be adjusted. The rep also said they
don't get many A3 VR6's in for major problems. "They
are built like a truck" Well... that would be a damn
fast one at that. :)
Also a special little warning. He said if you hear
your sunroof POP when closing to not open it again and
bring it in. He went on to say that if you open it
again you risk paying up to $1k for a new sunroof
cable. The solution: install a couple of diesel fuel
injector gaskets into the track and cable. Had a laugh
at that one.
Other than that the mechanic said the A3 VR6 is really
bullet proof other than maintenance. Nice to hear
that.
Sorry for the length.
