Bolt's don't just snap off during normal use.

The mechanics may not let on that they know you're lying, but they 
will, and you'll look worse if you 'act stupid' as you put it, than 
just give it to them straight up.

It's not like your car is under warranty or anything, so just tell 
them the truth.
