Some tidbits from today's San Francisco Chronicle:

". . . average Bay Area fan has probably worked up a healthy indifference
toward the NBA these days . . . these are some of the teams and people
worth following as you actively flee the new Coliseum arena: . . .

"The Celtics: It's always a better league when the Celtics have respect.
They've already covered the spectrum -- beating the Bulls, losing to Philly
- -- but these Kentucky-flavored scrappers at least lend the promise of an
entertaining evening. Rick Pitino drafted wisely, got his team in
condition and instilled the priceless quality of hustle. They'll get
better too . . .

"Chris Mullin and Larry Bird: . . . at least once a night, there's a
little "wheel" play, a backdoor cut, a pick-and-roll masterpiece that
rewards Mullin for all his work without the ball. With the Warriors, he
could go for four months without a single such moment . . .

"The Highlight Films: . . . Brent Barry throwing the no-look bounce pass
with the same motion as his dad, then canning a 25-footer, then throwing
down a savage dunk . . . Brevin Knight, who plays about 6-foot-6 in any
company . . . . "
