Well, it's nasty and snowing here. Hope Toronto made it in for the game
tonight.
Some thoughts I've had and thanks for allowing the forum to say them.
1) Went to the Denver game.
Walker played through an awful shooting night and really laid it on the
line. Like a Captain.
Billups was held to 6 assists. 37% shooting by the team will do that. He
also had an awful shooting night yet nailed the clinching basket when it
counted, and made the freebies.
Mercer is growing on me. He's smooth and contained and looking better and
better on that off the screen shot. Though he took 18 shots, most of them
were in the first and fourth quarters. His defense is also better than I
would have thought. I'm pleased.
Dee Brown's looking better, playing effectively in short minutes. Hope
some other team notices that. (Hey, San Antonio? Need some backcourt
help?)
Barros just looks worse and worse. Nice haircut.
2) Backcourt backlog. With an 8-man rotation for the 1, 2, 3 positions
(Billups, Brown, Barros, Edney, Mercer, Minor, Bowen, McCarty) it's
impossible to develop flow and consistency. Until that rotation is paired
down to 5 primaries and one injury backup, we will continue to have
problems.
3) Knight and Walker seem to like each other. They're looking for each
other a lot, and finding each other.
4) McCarty's showing more why a 6'10 ballhandling athlete would get picked
19th. He gets a lot done on the floor, but he's wild, somewhat chaotic and
not a good shooter. Don't get me wrong. I like him, but still, he's
CWAAAZZEEE!!
5) How do you get the roster trimmed to 12? If Billups were traded, he
would get packaged with most likely Minor or Barros or Brown to get rid of
cap space.
To get rid of the glut of contracts you have to package good with a
contract to get rid of'em.
6) I hope they can beat Toronto. I think they can. I also think NJ's a
possibility now that Gatling's down as well.
7) I now take this time to crow. I was THE big Brevin Knight supporter
this summer. And look, he's kickin' ass now. Best of luck to the little
guy.
8) Tim Duncan. I swore I'd never feel this way, but WHY COULDN'T WE WIN
THE LOTTERY???? WHHYYYYYYY!!!!!????? Saw him against MN on TNT and he is
AWESOME!
Have a good weekend, C's fans.
