2000 CD Options

I purchased a 2000 Jetta GLX about 8 months ago.  It has the "Monsoon" sound
package with the Factory-Installed CD Changer in the trunk.

I like the changer, but I've always thought it would be nice to have an
in-dash CD player too, so it's not such a pain when a friend brings along a
CD to play.

Through my dealer (and the VW website), I see that there is a factory
In-Dash CD player available.  The web site states that it can work in
conjunction with the CD Changer.  Has anybody out there had the in-dash and
the changer installed at the same time?

I called Car Toys to inquire about having an in-dash installed and they
acted like I was nuts when I said that I would be using it in conjunction
with a changer.

Any input would be appreciated!!
