Re: The VW Jetta GLX Mailing List Digest V4 #191
Here's what I did with the front plate on my GTI.
The front license plate bracket mounts via 2 decent sized bolts just under
the bumper as well as 2 screws that go into the front of the bumper (the
ones that leave the holes that no one likes).
So, take your bracket and turn it upside down, in effect "hanging" your
bracket via the two bigger bolts that mount it under the bumper. These 2
bolts are plenty sufficient for holding it on there too, so don't worry
about it coming off. Just be sure and turn your license plate right side up
;-)
If you do have 2 holes left in the front, go to the hardware store and get 2
black or white colored plugs that snap into the holes. I used black, and on
my Porcelain Blue GTI, and it looks fine. If not, you can always paint them
with touch up.
Good luck.
