Brakes - Cross Drilled or Slotted?



I should have my new wheels and tires by next week and while I am at it, I
am looking to change my pads and rotors too. I have never changed them yet
since I bought the car in 98 and they are about due now. 
But, does anyone have any pros/cons to these rotors. I have heard that the
cross drilled sometimes crack and the slotted work a little better. This is
my daily driver, so these rotors will see the winter too. Does anyone have
any first hand experience on this, and if so, what type/brand of rotors are
you using? 
I am going to go with the Axis/Mintex Red Box pads for a little less brake
dust too
