RE: Need tires to pass inspection on 2000 Jetta VR6
First, I apologize to all the people who I had (in my mind) criticized for
poor driving ability when they wrote in complaining about the GA's. You
were all 100% right. They suck. Big time. Last week I put on Potenza
(Bridgestone) RE910's and it is a world of difference. And these are not
"super-ultra-high performance" tires. No slipping on dry and only minor in
wet weather. Torque steer is also significantly improved. So my two cents
is go with Potenza's. I've had them on my previous car (Saab 900) and now
on the GLX. Long tread life (60,000), good performance and the right price
($400 +/- mounted, balanced, disposal, etc. at a local shop). I did have to
special order them but it only took the shop about a week to get in and the
price was as good or better than tire-rack.

I second what Khan says, but add that I bought Toyo
Proxes when my stock tires wore out and LOVE them.
I've had them for a few months now, and the wet
traction difference is night and day.
