Tire help/archive URL
Okay, so spank me hard because I misplaced the mailing list archive's URL.
Today, I lost a tire. The passenger's side front tire became worn
beyond the steel and developed a hole. Thankfully, pressure was lost
while the car was stationary rather than going 80mph on the turnpike. But
the tire's a goner. What I'm going to do is put a cheapy on tomorrow at a
local tire shop, and order a pair of good front tires.
What I need help with is one of two things. Either the URL for the
list's archives, so that I can get info from there, or just your advice
on what would be the best buy.
What I'm looking for is a pair of damned good all-season tires. I live
in the northeast (Maine), where we get a lot of rain, snow, ice, and
slush, and I'll want the best traction I can get during our 5-month
winter. I'm looking at some Yokohama AVS S4s, which don't look bad, but
I'm sure that there's something better out there, as far as handling
goes. I can't recall which was which, but I believe that either the Toyo
T1+ or the Proxes were excellent in poor traction conditions, or they
were frighteningly slippery. But I don't recall which was which.
Anyhow, that's where I am at the moment. Please, any advice would be a
blessing. Thanks in advance!
