Hi,
Just wanted to pass along an experience...
A couple of weeks ago, I posted about a "friend" who noticed a handprint on the
hood of my GLX (which was covered in gravel-dust at the time), and they decided
to "wipe it out" with a towel, which had the same effect as wiping a quarter of
my hood with sandpaper... Didn't know how I was gonna get it out. I had some
polishing compound, but testing it in an inconspicuous spot showed me it was
too abrasive.
I bought a bottle of "Scratch Out", made by KIT, for like $2 for a bottle.
(For those of you unfamiliar with KIT, the brand is totally NOT-high-end.
Their products are pretty cheap, and can be found at any Wal-Mart or
auto-parts store. But, for the money, they work pretty well. Look for the
yellow bottle.) I bought some of this stuff called "Scratch Out". It worked
WONDERS! TOTALLY removed the "sandpaper" marks out of my hood! Along with the
scratches behind the door handles from my fiance's fingernails! ...I ended up
doing the whole car! It works just like wax.
Just wanted to pass the word along if anyone has some surface scratches that
they'd like to get rid of pretty cheaply....
Dave
P.S. But wouldn't you know it -- today at lunch, I had parallel parked in a
pretty tight spot, and when I come out, the guy behind me had obviously bumped
me as he was leaving. His front license plate left a cut in my rear bumper
about an inch long, and kinda deep. ...The "Scratch Out" is pretty good, but
it's no miracle worker. Guess I'll see if I can fill this with some touchup
paint.
