As for the C's adding him, it's apparent that Gaston won't allow adding
anyone until the sale is finalized. And if he were to have a change of heart,
my preference right now would be another front court player first or another
scorer that can also defend. Lee Nailon and Jim Jackson are still out there.
I think either of them would be more valuable than another small guard with
the way this team is currently constructed.
Yeah, I liked what Kenny did last year but I still think it had a large
element of being significantly better than anyone else we played at the
point rather than being a perfect solution in itself. I'm not 100% sure we
want him back anyway. Reports out of Seattle are a return to the old, bad
Kenny and how long would it take him to get over that if we brought him
back? It took him years while he was here before. Walker has clearly and
eagerly EMBRACED the idea of being a lot more in control of what goes on on
the court. Kenny comes back and one or the other of them is not going to be
happy - Kenny because Walker's role remains expanded, Walker because some
of his fun is getting taken away and he feels he'd do a better job of some
of the decision making. There's also the defense argument. I don't think
anyone is seriously going to argue that the defense improves with Kenny at
the point and you can't do offense/defense swaps for the entire game. You
could argue that failure to guard Kidd was the decider in that series, even
though there were other problems.
Interesting that you mention Bremer. I can't remember what the cut-off date
for when his contract goes from a partial guarantee to a full guarantee is,
do you?
Probably Jan 10th http://members.cox.net/lmcoon/salarycap.htm#84
