The good 'ole days

In the old days, you could build a team. Now with the salary cap and
agents telling you what they are going to do, and free agency, trades
like the Fortson trade, and the Mercer trade, happen because the teams
know the player will not resign. In the old days, you could have worked
with Fortson and gotten him where he needed to be, but now, if he
doesn't get the playing time he "deserves" right away, the agent lays
his threat and he gets traded. Something for nothing. It sucks, but
that's the way of the NBA.

Bentz certainly makes a good point here. When Pitino leaves the C's, his
exit speech will be full of comments about lack of money for players, lack
of dedication in "today's" players, etc. For the most part he will be
right....
Not to many years ago all coaches had to do was coach. Now they are
supposed to be motivational speakers who have to smile while taking
super-agents to dinner, all the while wanting to reach across the table and
choke them (oh I forgot, only players are allowed to choke people)
Speaking of superagents, I only caught the second half of the game, and
thought I saw David Falk sitting behind the Pacers bench. Was it mentioned
that he was there, and does he represent Williams?
