Fans are sheep
Most fans who go to NBA games these days fall into one of three categories:
1. Money to burn, want to be entertained, don't watch all the games and
have no point of reference.
2. Go to a few games a year, used to like the Celtics when they were
winners and are looking around for Larry Bird to reappear.
3. True fans with knowledge (the minority).
If people who are on this list and are privy to up-to-date information
sometimes act ignorant (of the facts), how can you expect the casual fan to
know what they are talking about?
I've had several conversations with people in category #2 and they always
say..."the Celtics suck". They can't name more than three players on the
roster and the team will never be the "Larry Bird team" that it was. They
don't know the details, don't want to know the details, and will never be
impressed with a #8 playoff spot, etc. They listen to the guys on WEEI
trash Walker, Pitino, etc, and follow like sheep. It's easier than learning
the facts. I don't blame them, but they sure do frustrate me with their
ignorance of the facts.
