I don't like the trade, we end up giving too much. The basic premise of the
trade itself is questionable, Pitino has expressed interest in Joe Smith and
I would have Joe & Delk rather than Mashburn & Delk. Regarding money Gaston
has so far stepped upto the plate so it hasn't been a problem yet. The
celtics have one of the lowest pay-rolls in the NBA. Clearly we are not
going to win any championship with a payroll of 26 mill..the payroll for
teams that are championship bound is in the vicinity 40 mill. the C's will
need to spend that kind of dough once they are convinced that this is the
team they will contend with. Getting Joe now would be great because RP can
take a look at him and see how he adapts to the system..if not then we still
have a chance to trade him and get somebody else by the trading dead line. -
