First a negative comment, Billups usually misses people on
2 on 1 fast breaks. Even high school point guards know not to
take the shot yourself Every single time there's a 2 on 1 or
3 on 1 break. That fault in his game has nothing to do w/ a
complicated offense.
But his big improvement since preaseason, that I haven't seen
mentioned yet is his defensive speed. From watching him in college,
I thought the thing he could bring to the C's right away was a
defensive force at pt guard. The guy gets low, and seems blazing
fast going laterally(practicing against Tyus probably helps).
Add that to quick hands and above average strength, you have the
tools to be a serious defender given time.
Also seems like a smooth and natural ballhandler. Doesn't get ripped,
but does throw away a few passes.
Finally, does anyone think that the 1st or 2nd play of the 2nd half
is scripted to be a Billups 3 pt attempt every game?
