Antoine Walker scored seven of his 25 points
in a
decisive fourth-quarter run as the Boston
Celtics edged
the Philadelphia 76ers, 107-101, for their
first
three-game winning streak in nearly two
years.
Walker scored the last seven points of a
12-2 burst
that broke open a tie game midway through
the period.
The Celtics nearly squandered the lead but
held on,
winning three straight games for the first
time since
December 12th-15th, 1995.
Walter McCarty added a career-high 19 points
for
Boston, which has won just two of its last
29 Atlantic
Division games -- both against Philadelphia.
The Celtics
lost their first 23 division games last
season but avoided
becoming the first team in NBA history to go
winless in
its division by beating Philadelphia in its
division finale.
Jerry Stackhouse scored 23 points and
Derrick
Coleman added 16 and 18 rebounds for the
Sixers, who
had a two-game winning streak snapped.
