RE: Players who could be had cheap.
I see Walker as a better player than Sprewell because he does more. Don't just
look at his shooting percentage and Sprewell isn't shaking the earth either in
terms of shooting percentage. Walker is averaging almost 10 rebounds, 3.6
assists, 2 steals and 1 block while averaging the same number of points.
Sprewell is shooting 40%, avraging 2.9 rebounds, 4.9 assists and a fraction
blocks. Now you tell me, who would you rather have?
Regarding what it would take to get Sprewell? Clearly under regular conditions
it would take a lot but with the current problems between Sprewell & PJ <and I
didn't complete the story, so here it is: following that incident PJ threw Spre
out of practice and benched him>. The warriors desperately want to trade him and
understand that in the light of the above nobody wants him at his kind of salary
<all this is not the figment of my imagination, it has been on the Bay area air
waves for a while now>.
In sacramento's case Rich may want out but he is still producing so they are in
no hurry to trade him and certainly will not will not swap Richmond for
Sprewell. Warriors would do that deal in a heart beat. They have a history of
doing bad deals: remember Seikally for Felton Spencer, Hardaway & Gatling for
Bimbo & Willis, so don't say that this deal can't fly. - Mishra

may be in a few years, but not now. When this guy is hot he can score 50 on
you. If a guy shooting sub 40% is the best player on your team, you aren't
going too far. We would have to give up a hell of a lot more than the players
you referenced. If this is true I wouldn't be surprised to see Sprewell swapped
for Richmond. I would give up Barros, McCarty, and Billups to get Sprewell
this guy can be a pain, but he is a proven star and can shoot, the one thing
we are lacking big time. Although I don't know if he could take Pitino's hard
nose coaching style. Can you imagine a lineup of:

> Sprewell
> Mercer
