[Fwd: point guards]

I watched the fourth quarter of the Cleveland/New Jersey game last night, and
think
that Chauncey Billups is playing just as good if not better at point guard than
is Brevin Knight.
Chauncey Billups doesn't have a Shawn Kemp or a Zydrunas
Ilgauskas around the basket to throw the ball to. Both Kemp and Ilgauskas are
tall
and work hard for shots around the basket. This has to help Brevin Knight
look good at playing point guard for Cleveland.
Think positive and give Billups a chance to make some adjustments. He is a good
player and will be an even better player. You will really be surprised at how
much
better Billups will look on the floor when the Celtic players start shooting
better.
I think part of the problem with Billups is that Pitino plays a perimeter offense
leaving Billups with no one to pass the ball to when he penetrates toward the
basket. Players
must screen and cut toward the basket for a point guard to be effective, and not
stand on perimeter looking for a long two or a three shot attempt at the basket.
If you will notice, the Celtics don't get a lot of offensive rebounds for the
same reason.
Too many players are on the perimeter, and not fighting for position around the
basket.
