I watched a good bit of the Philly-Dallas game last night and was
impressed by the style imposed by Larry Brown. Iverson brought the
ball up and directed or gave way to Stackhouse or Jackson and then
faded to the corner to become a shooting option. It worked well; Iverson
still penetrated often enough to score or pass off and both Jackson and
Stackhouse varied their attacks between jump shots and movement
toward the basket.
Coleman played a lot; scored well on his outside jumper and used his
dribble and short hook or jumper effectively. Altho' he still looks lethargic
and a bit overweight, he was steady and patient. Of course, Montross
is still Montross, but he bumped the Dallas big men well and didn't call
much attention to himself. Overall, they shot well, especially down the
stretch, they seemed patient and I shouldn't be surprised that Brown has
them approximating a legitimate NBA team. They can now stay close to
the average teams in the league.
I think we can beat them by owning the boards, but I would like for our
measure to be how we do against New Jersey and Washington. My
goal is to be number four in the Atlantic. I think that's aiming high enough
for now.
