Re: Rick's Seltix

Here is some food for thought.
Rick Pitino is the President of the Boston Celtics for one reason.
He will make money for the owners. That he could put a championship
team on the floor is a byproduct. If the team wins, but management
loses money, how long will RP be around? Think about it. It is a
business. RP only promised Entertainment. I do not recall hearing
him say we WILL have a championship in 3, 4 or even 5 years. What he
has done, is gotten rid of the expensive baggage from M L Carr, except
for Barros and Brown, and is going to make a name for himself as a
fine horse trader. He will keep a competitive and entertaining product on
the floor, and money in the bank. As for the rooks, they are some of the
finest very young talent I have seen. However, the barrier from the athelitic
to the professional is HUGE. In 3 years, could you imagine Billups
play his rookie counterpart? So in 3 years Pitino can make some money.
Purveyor of fine young studs to the NBA. How long would it take for fans
to burn down Fenway if management traded everyone but Vaughn and Wakefield
and brought up Pawtucket? The spin doctors would say we are putting the
best team on the field, but would it be an accidental byproduct that they
could profit from such a move? The truth is, it is what they are doing, but
covertly. What makes it hard to see is a Nomar Garciaparra comes along and
blinds us from the truth. Like Antoine Walker. He makes you want to believe
and you do because you want them to win so very much. New York, Atlanta,
Chicago, San Antonio have bought the best. You can hope for the rest, but
you got the jest. I'm a cynic you say? You are right, but so am I.
