Yes, McCarty is out of control offensively - most likely because he is eager
to prove himself after rotting on the Knicks' bench last year. However, his
rebounding, passing and defense have been good and I am excited about his
future. To call the trade with the Knicks a lost cause is very premature. As
for Mills doing well, he was a non-entity in the Knicks first 2 games and I'm
sure he felt he had a lot to prove against us. His 8 of 15 shooting looks
impressive but he hit 5 of those as gimmes when he was left alone under the
basket. Jones & Thomas are long shot prospects. Jones has little actual
basketball experience and didn't play at all last year due to injury, and
Thomas is no more than a wide body who played half a game in college. Maybe
teacher Rick can get something out of these guys, but even if he doesn't
McCarty alone will be worth Mills in our system!
