In the Vescey interview, Pitino said that Gaston is not willing to pay Garnett
type money but would rather like to spread it around players that can play in
his system.  But Pitino also said he really wants Walker and he feels he could
be one of the top 3-4 players in the league in a few years. In the studio,
Vescey was interpreting this to be posturing for future negotiations. 

By the way, I really enjoyed it when John Salley predicted the Knicks wouldn't
make the playoffs this year. That old unbiased Vescey couldn't hold himself
back and had to tell Salley 'no, the Knicks WILL make the playoffs this year'.
